The Welch Foundation awards The Robert A. Welch Award in Chemistry with the purpose of fostering and encouraging basic chemical research and to recognize, in a substantial manner, the value of chemical research contributions for the benefit of mankind.

Eligibility: Research Faculty, Tenure-Track Faculty, Tenured Faculty

• Self-nominations are not accepted.
• Directors and officers of the Foundation and members of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Foundation may not make nominations nor are they eligible to receive the award.
  • Former SAB members are eligible to be nominated 4 years after the calendar year in which they left the SAB.
• Nominations remain in eligible for five years without revision.
• The award is intended to recognize contributions that have not previously been rewarded in a similar manner.

Research Areas of Interest:

• The award committee will consider any person who has made important chemical research contributions that have had a significant, positive influence on humankind
