The Lasker Foundation is accepting nominations for the 2023 Lasker Awards, which honor individuals who have made significant contributions in basic or clinical research in diseases that are the main cause of death and disability. Lasker Awards will be offered in three categories this year: Basic Research, Clinical Research, and Special Achievement:

  • Albert Lasker Basic Medical Research Award: For a fundamental discovery that opens up a new area of biomedical science.
  • Lasker~DeBakey Clinical Medical Research Award: For a major advance that improves the lives of many thousands of people.
  • Lasker~Koshland Special Achievement Award in Medical Science:  For research accomplishments and scientific statesmanship that engender the deepest feelings of awe and respect.

  • An honorarium (undisclosed amount), a citation, and an inscribed statuette of the Winged Victory of Samothrace, symbolizing victory over death and disease.
    • When the Award is given to more than one individual in a category, the honorarium will be divided among the winners, and each will receive a statuette and a citation.

Eligibility: Research Faculty, Tenure-Track Faculty, Tenured Faculty

  • Anyone who has made an original and significant contribution in basic or clinical medical research is eligible for nomination.
  • Award winners may reside in any country of the world.
  • More than one scientist may be nominated if they have worked as a team, or if they independently have made comparable contributions in their field.
    • No more than three individuals will be considered for an Award in the Basic or Clinical category.
    • Special Achievement Awards are intended to honor a single individual.
  • Self-nominations will not be considered.
  • Nominations made in previous years are not automatically reconsidered.
  • The Lasker Foundation seeks nominations of outstanding candidates; nominations of women and minorities are encouraged.
